2023 Ford Bronco Overview

Now in its third year of production, it showcases a robust four-wheel-drive system, substantial ground clearance, and a host of available add-ons for overcoming the toughest terrains. Moreover, the Bronco amplifies the off-roading experience by offering an open-air drive, allowing a unique fusion of exhilaration and versatility for both city drives and adventurous trails.

For 2023, Ford embraces nostalgia and introduces the special Bronco Heritage Edition, available in both two- and four-door models. Built on the Big Bend trim with the Sasquatch package, it features a 300-hp turbo 2.3-liter engine, mated to a standard seven-speed manual gearbox or an optional 10-speed automatic. It comes with a white roof, a white grille, and wheels inspired by the 1960s. For a touch of luxury, the Heritage Limited Edition, based on the Badlands trim, features unique plaid leather-trimmed upholstery, metal Bronco-script fender badging, and exclusive Heritage Limited center console badging.

The automotive media gives the 2023 Ford Bronco high marks, with Kelley Blue Book writing: “The 2023 Ford Bronco is a tremendous off-road SUV with a lot of variety in its model range and a unique aesthetic. ... While it’s an amazing off-roader, one of the Bronco’s key strengths is how much more comfortable and responsive it is around town compared to its clearest (only?) direct competitor, the Jeep Wrangler. While they both feature rugged, body-on-frame construction, the Bronco is decidedly more pleasant and easier to drive than the more truck-like Wrangler.”

The four-wheel-drive 2023 Ford Bronco is offered in seven basic trim levels: Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands, Wildtrak, and Everglades. All, except the four-door Everglades, are available in two- or four-door configurations. The Bronco family is rounded off with an eighth trim, the Raptor, boasting an upgraded engine and an abundance of advanced off-road components.

Three engines are on offer. The base engine is a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder powerplant that puts out 275 horsepower and 315 lb-ft of torque, matched with a seven-speed manual gearbox or a 10-speed automatic. An available twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 develops 315 hp and 330 lb-ft, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Bronco Raptor is powered by a twin-turbocharged V6 that cranks out 418 hp and 440 lb-ft, also mated to a 10-speed automatic.

Standard features in the Base Bronco trim include 16-inch steel wheels, 30-inch all-season tires, a terrain management system with five drive modes, LED headlights, power windows and door locks, push-button start, six-way manually adjustable front seats, cloth seating, carpeted flooring and floor mats, tow hooks, and air conditioning. Other standard features include a digital instrument panel, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a seven-speaker stereo system, satellite radio, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Standard advanced safety features include automatic emergency braking, hill descent control, hill start assist, trailer sway damping, and trail turn assist.
